LEMOORE – Assemblymember Salas (D-Bakersfield) joined the Lemoore Police Department and Kings County community for a tree planting ceremony to honor the legacy and sacrifice of Officer Jonathan Diaz, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2019, while responding to a domestic violence call.
SACRAMENTO – Today, the California Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (CALNENA) and over 8,000 9-1-1 emergency dispatchers across the state of California, presented Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) with their first ever Legislator of the Year Award.
SACRAMENTO – Today, the California State Assembly passed with unanimous, bipartisan support, Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 63, which designates the week of April 11, 2021 to April 17, 2021, as California Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) authored this resolution to honor the incredible service of California’s 9-1-1 dispatchers who have dedicated their lives and careers to helping others.
SACRAMENTO, CA –Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) applauded the advancement of Assembly Bill (AB) 56, a bipartisan bill, which will overhaul the Employment Development Department (EDD) to speed up unemployment insurance claims, protect Californians from identity theft, stop rampant fraud of the unemployment insurance system, and ensure that California is ready to meet the next crisis.
SACRAMENTO –Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) applauded the decision by the State Water Resources Control Board to award the City of Stratford with $6,568,100 in financing for the Stratford Public Utility District’s Wastewater Facilities Improvement Project, which will help build a new treatment and disposal system that is affordable to ratepayers and addresses aging infrastructure to ensure proper management of the facility.
SACRAMENTO –Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) commended the advancement of Assembly Bill (AB) 383, which passed unanimously with bipartisan support out of the Assembly Committee on Aging and Long-Term Care. AB 383 would establish an Older Adult Mental Health Services Administrator to integrate, improve and increase mental health services for older adults.
SACRAMENTO –Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) applauded the advancement of Assembly Bill (AB) 107, which passed unanimously with bipartisan support out of the Assembly Business and Professions Committee. AB 107 will expedite the process of relicensing certain jobs for military spouses and expand the job opportunities that military spouses qualify for, while easing the burdens placed on families serving our nation.
BAKERSFIELD – Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) proudly recognized Mari Pérez-Dowling, the President and CEO of the United Way of Kern County, as Woman of the Year for Assembly District 32. Ms. Pérez-Dowling is the first Latina to serve in her role as President and CEO at United Way of Kern and has championed efforts to reduce homelessness and food insecurity, and has supported free income tax assistance and early childhood literacy programs that have benefited countless families throughout the Central Valley.
