SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Salas (D-Bakersfield) applauded the awarding of $1,165,644 in grants for the Kings River Conservation District Channel Improvement Project. The California Department of Conservation (DOC) distributed this funding in first-of-their-kind grants for watershed restoration and conservation projects on the Kings River.
HANFORD – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) joined Kings County Sheriff David Robinson and community leaders to celebrate the official opening of the new Sheriff’s Headquarters in Hanford. Assemblymember Salas secured $7 million for this project as part of a public safety infrastructure package in the 2018-19 state budget, along with an additional $1.7 million for a new police facility in Corcoran. In total, Assemblymember Salas has helped secure $13.7 million for public safety infrastructure projects in Kings County, including crucial improvements in Lemoore, Avenal, and Corcoran.
SACRAMENTO - Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield), along with Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens), Assemblymember Eloise Reyes (D-San Bernardino), and Assemblymember Bill Quirk (D-Hayward) applauded the passage of Assembly Bill (AB) 2276, which will improve the rate of blood lead level testing and lead poisoning prevention for children. This legislation is the combined effort of Assemblymember Salas, Assemblymember Garcia, Assemblymember Reyes, and Assemblymember Quirk.
BAKERSFIELD, CA – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield), hosted an Appointments Workshop to instruct local Central Valley professionals on how to apply for a state board or commission. Assemblymember Salas was joined by Governor Gavin Newsom’s Appointments Secretary, Cathryn Rivera-Hernandez, Dr. Sonya Christian, President of Bakersfield College, John Nilon, California State University Board of Trustees, Raji Brar, California Regional Water Quality Control Board, and Dr. Jeffrey Garcia, California Board of Optometry.
SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas, Chair of the Joint Legislative Committee (JLAC), forwarded the State Auditor his request for an emergency audit of the Employment Development Department (EDD), the state agency responsible for providing unemployment insurance benefits to Californians. Assemblymember Salas was joined by a bipartisan group of 39 legislators in calling for an audit of the EDD to shed light on a host of issues with the department’s COVID-19 response. The State Auditor’s office will begin work on the audit no later than the end of September.
SACRAMENTO – Assembly Bill 1945 (AB 1945), which recognizes the heroic work of public safety dispatchers by reclassifying them as first responders, was officially signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom after passing the Legislature with unanimous, bipartisan support.
