Update to ongoing drought conditions and recommendations moving forward
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield), Chair of the Assembly Committee on Accountability and Administrative Review, held an informational hearing at the State Capitol entitled “Drought Emergency Services: Protecting Our Most Vulnerable Communities”. The hearing convened key leaders in drought response to discuss the state’s response to the ongoing drought and its impact on the Central Valley region.
“As California enters its fourth year of extreme drought it is necessary to remain mindful of the progress made in addressing the crisis and identify the challenges that lie ahead,” said Salas. “When it comes to the drought, the most significant impacts are found in the Central Valley and this hearing shed light on ways to effectively assist our most vulnerable communities especially as we approach the peak of this year’s drought conditions.”
