Assemblymember Salas honors Cherylee Wegman as Woman of the Year on Assembly floor

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) and the California State Assembly honored Cherylee Wegman as the 2018 Woman of the Year for the 32nd Assembly District.  Assemblymember Salas recognized Wegman during the annual Capitol ceremony for her long-standing community service throughout Kern County.

Assemblymember Salas fights for Valley Fever funding

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) and Assemblymember Vince Fong (R-Kern County) presented before the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services a proposal to appropriate $7 million dedicated to combating Valley Fever.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) attended the California Water Commission hearing to testify in support of investments in water storage infrastructure in the Central Valley, such as the Temperance Flat Reservoir and Sites Reservoir project proposals. 

“Voters approved the Water Bond four years ago because there was specific funding included to increase water storage in California,” said Assemblymember Salas.  “The Temperance Flat and Sites projects will secure increased water storage and bring meaningful, long-lasting benefits to the Central Valley, where families and communities are hit hardest by drought and water quality issues.  It is imperative that we keep our commitment to voters.”

SACRAMENTO – Today, Governor Jerry Brown released his 2018-19 State Budget proposal. Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) issued the following statement:

“I am encouraged by the Governor’s proposed budget released today. This balanced budget proposal funds priorities such as education, health care, infrastructure, and public safety and emergency programs while increasing the State’s Rainy Day Fund and paying down debt.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) introduced a comprehensive package of legislation aimed at combating valley fever.  Assembly Bills (AB) 1787, 1788, 1789, and 1790 are a strategic and targeted approach to tackle the disease from various angles, including doctor training, strengthening worker protections, and streamlining the reporting and confirming of valley fever cases.
