Newly elected Assemblymember Rudy Salas named Chair of two Select Committees

Sacramento – Today, Assemblymember Rudy Salas was sworn in to the California State Assembly and named Chair of two Select Committees.

Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez has selected Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) to Chair the Assembly Select Committee on Regional Approaches to Addressing the State's Water Crisis and the Select Committee on Workforce and Vocational Development in California.

"I am honored to be sworn in today and that Speaker Pérez has chosen me to chair these two important select committees to bring jobs, economic development and ensuring a reliable water supply for the valley and California's growth."

The Select Committee on Regional Approaches to Addressing the State's Water Crisis will examine best practices regarding local conservation projects, water storage, regional strategies to deliver drinking water, conveyance and new ideas for the state to consider as it addresses current and future water shortages.

The Select Committee on Workforce and Vocational Development in California will address the needs and the challenges of preparing individuals for a skilled workforce.

Assemblymember Salas was joined by family, friends and loyal supporters representing part of the City of Bakersfield, Hanford, Corcoran, Delano, Lemoore, Shafter, Wasco and the communities of Armona, Kettleman City, Lamont, Lost Hills, Stratford and Weedpatch.
