(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) and the California State Assembly adjourned in the memory of Merle Haggard, one of the original Bakersfield Sound era’s most successful artists, who died recently at the age of 79. “Merle Haggard was famous for developing the Bakersfield Sound and he truly was a common man’s poet,” said Assemblymember Salas. “Haggard epitomized the essence of the working class. He will be missed and I am honored to adjourn in his memory.” Here’s more from Assemblymember Salas in this Assembly Access video.
